Folded Creatures Paper and Pencil Game Free Printable

Looking for a silly drawing game that only requires paper, a pencil, and two players? This Folded Creatures Paper and Pencil Game is a fun screen-free activity where players work together to create one very unusual creature.

The best part is that neither player knows exactly what the finished creature will look like until the final reveal. Download the free three-page printable at the bottom of this post and start drawing!

How to Play the Folded Creatures Game

Player One starts by drawing the creature’s head in the top section of the page. Before folding the section backward, extend two short neck lines slightly across the fold line.

Fold the completed section back so Player Two cannot see the drawing. Pass the paper to Player Two, who uses the two visible lines as the starting point for the next section of the creature.

Continue drawing, folding, and passing the paper until every section is finished. When the creature is complete, unfold the entire page together and see what you created. No peeking before the final reveal!

What Is Included in the Free Printable?

The Folded Creatures PDF includes three printable pages:

  • A directions page with a sample finished creature
  • A three-part creature drawing sheet for the head, body and arms, and legs, feet, or tail
  • A four-part creature challenge with extra space for the shoulders, arms, chest, belly, wings, tail, legs, feet, or anything else you can imagine

Start with the three-part version to learn how the game works. Once you have mastered it, try the four-part challenge and make your creatures even stranger.

What Do You Need to Play?

This is a low-prep paper and pencil game. You only need two players, one pencil, and one printed creature sheet.

Markers, crayons, or colored pencils can also be added after the big reveal. Try giving your finished creature a name or creating a background and habitat for it.

Why Kids Will Love This Drawing Game

Folded Creatures combines drawing with a surprise. Each player only sees the small lines left behind by the previous player, so there is no way to predict what the finished creature will look like.

It is also a fun choice for kids who sometimes say they do not know what to draw. Instead of worrying about creating a perfect picture, they only have to focus on one small section at a time.
